There's something truly special about homemade marinara sauce—it's rich, flavorful, and infinitely customizable to suit your taste. Recipe for Homemade Marinara Sauce


Ingredients:

  • 4 tablespoons olive oil

  • 4 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)

  • 10 - 12 large fresh tomatoes

  • 1 small can of organic tomato paste

  • fresh oregano

  • fresh basil

  • 1 large shallot

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • 1 tablespoon honey (optional, to balance acidity)


Instructions:

Here is where i keep it very simple. It s time consuming process but totally worth it!


  1. Start by cutting all the fresh tomatos and coring them, take out all the seeds and so there is no tomato water. This is key to making the marinara thick and flavorful.

  2. Add the tomatos to a cookie sheet adding the shallot (cut it in half or 4ths) add salt, pepper, red pepper flakes, and fresh garlic. Bake at 350 for about 30 minutes unitl the tomatos are cooked and soft.

  3. Once it is cooled add put them in a food processer or high powered blender and add tomato paste, fresh herbs, olive oil, honey, Blend until smooth.

  4. Add the mixture to a sauce pan and heat when ready to serve.
