Do you really need two photographers at your wedding?

Why have two photographers at your wedding?

In your search for your Columbia wedding photographers, you will find that most Augusta, GA photographers have second shooters built into their wedding photography packages. But you might be wondering if you really need a second Greenville photographer for your wedding? And what does a second shooter do for your wedding anyway? How will it benefit me to have two photographers at my wedding?

Often the second photographer / assistant are the ones that covers the groom getting ready, and many of the groomsmen group shots. Having a second photographer photograph the groom and groomsmen gives the main photographer ample time to capture the bride and her bridesmaids getting ready. We can’t be in two places at one time, so having a second photographer is key to capturing all the moments that are happening simultaneously.

Second shooters also photograph different angles than the main photographer of the same moment. For example, during the first look, one photographer will get the brides reaction while the other captures the grooms. Or two different angles of the ceremony moments such as the groom’s reaction and the bride’s on the aisle (if you didn’t do a first look) and different angles during the vows and exchanging of the rings. They also get different angles of the bridal party, and bride and groom shots. They often get more shots from a side angle or the back of the dress while the main photographer shoots them straight on or the couple looking at the camera. Think of it like this, you can hardly expect one photographer, no matter how much experience they have, or how organized and talented, to capture every moment happening in every area of the room. I personally don’t shoot a wedding without a second photographer, it helps keep things running smooth and keep everyone calm. No matter how big or small your wedding is having a second photographer is worth every penny!

Need some more convincing? Here are five reasons why you need a second photographer!

1: You want to have multiple angles of the same moment and or shot.

2: When the bride and groom are getting ready in separate rooms or locations and you want coverage of both of you getting ready.

3: If you having a medium to large wedding, its hard for one photographer to thoroughly cover the wedding by his or herself.

4: If you want several candid images of guests, family and friends having fun at your reception having a second photographer insure that you get lots of action shots of people dancing and celebrating!

5: When you are having a tight timeline it simple won’t be possible for your photographer to be in two places at one time. For example, one photographer can’t get golden hour shots of the bride and groom together and get shots of the reception details untouched or cocktail hour.

The benefits of having two photographers comes down to insuring that your Columbia wedding photographers will be able to photograph your whole wedding day and all of the little moment in between. Many Augusta, GA photographers often include a second shooter in their wedding packages, I know I do! But if their package doesn’t automatically come with a second photographer it’s worth asking if it’s an option to add one, how much of an additional charge it would be to add one, who it will be, and how much experience they have. It's also very important to make sure they will be actually shooting and not just caring around the main photographers equipment.

So what do you think? Is having a second photographer at your Charlotte wedding worth it?
