Tampa Food Photographer Nina Bashaw Shares Baked Brie with Granny Smith Apples, Bacon, Honey, and Cinnamon Recipe

As a Tampa food photographer, one of my favorite parts of the job is capturing the irresistible allure of a dish that combines both savory and sweet elements. This baked brie recipe with Granny Smith apples, crispy bacon, drizzled honey, and a touch of cinnamon does just that—perfect for impressing guests at any gathering or simply indulging in a cozy night at home.

Ingredients:

  • 1 wheel of brie cheese

  • 1 Granny Smith apple, thinly sliced

  • 3-4 slices of cooked bacon, crumbled

  • 2 tablespoons of honey

  • 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon

  • 1 sheet of puff pastry (optional for wrapping)

  • Crackers or sliced baguette for serving

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Brie: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). If you'd like to wrap the brie in puff pastry, roll out the sheet and place the brie in the center. Otherwise, you can bake the brie directly on parchment paper or in a small, oven-safe dish.

  2. Layer the Apples and Bacon: Arrange the thin slices of Granny Smith apples on top of the brie. These tart apples will balance the creamy richness of the cheese. Then, sprinkle the crumbled bacon over the apple slices for that savory crunch that complements the brie perfectly.

  3. Add a Sweet Drizzle: Drizzle honey generously over the top of the apples and bacon. The sweetness of the honey pairs wonderfully with the saltiness of the bacon and the slight sourness of the apples.

  4. Sprinkle with Cinnamon: A light dusting of cinnamon adds warmth and enhances the overall flavor profile. The spice makes the dish feel even more comforting and inviting.

  5. Bake: Place the brie in the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is gooey and melty. If you’re using puff pastry, bake until the pastry is golden brown and flaky.

  6. Serve: Once baked, remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Serve with crackers, sliced baguette, or even fresh fruit on the side.

Why This Recipe Works:

The combination of creamy brie, tart Granny Smith apples, and savory bacon creates a balance that dances on the palate. The honey adds just the right amount of sweetness, while cinnamon brings warmth and depth to the overall flavor. As a Tampa food photographer, I love photographing this dish because the textures and colors are so visually enticing—from the crispy golden bacon to the lush, melted cheese.

Whether you’re hosting a dinner party or just want to treat yourself, this baked brie recipe is a showstopper that’s as easy to make as it is to enjoy. Try it out and let the flavors speak for themselves!
