Who gets a plus one at weddings?

You're officially planning a wedding here in Tampa, congratulations!! By now you will see that a big part of the planning process goes to the guest list. How to narrow it down and who gets a plus one? How do you choose who gets a plus one and who doesn't? This blog post is designed to help you with that decision!

WHO GETS A PLUS ONE?

Those who are married

Anyone that is engaged

Anyone who lives with their partner or long term relationship

Those in a serious relationship or might get engaged soon

Everyone in your bridal party

Guests who won’t know anyone or has extreme social anxiety

TIP 1:

BE THOUGHT FULL WHEN SEATING COUPLES AND SINGLE GUESTS

I say it's the kind thing to do when you mix your seating chart up and here is why. If you have a singles table is just weird and makes them feel uncomfortable. So instead spread the love and mix them with outgoing and welcoming couples that wil engage with them during dinner so it's not awkward to silent.

TIP 2:

HAVE A PLAN WHEN PEOPLE ASK IF THEY CAN BRING A PLUS ONE

I get it. no one likes feeling alone at an event and it can cause anxiey for people that have social anxiety. If you have guests that fall into that category then I think it's the kind thing to do by allowing them to bring a friend or date. However you might have guests that do not fall into that group that will ask if they can bring a plus one. This is when it's totally okay to give a quick and kind responce of "no". One way you could this; “We would love for you to bring a guest, but this is a very intimate wedding so we don't have room for any additional guests. Thank you for understanding and we hope to see you at the wedding” It might feel rude and hard to say, but just remember: this is your wedding and your paying for it. So you have the right to say no to uninvited guests.
